The Punjab Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, has announced that summer vacations in the province will officially begin on May 28.

Due to the severe heatwave, the Minister has also modified school hours. Schools will now operate from 7:30am to 11:30am to protect students from the heat.

The Minister emphasized that this decision prioritizes the health and safety of children. During the summer break, students are encouraged to maintain their educational continuity.

Previously, the Minister indicated that a final decision regarding summer vacations would be made within three to four days, and consultations about possible changes to the vacation dates were ongoing. However, the initial date for summer break was set for June 1.

He stressed the importance of addressing learning losses resulting from school closures during the current academic year, making it a top priority to prevent further setbacks.

The Minister confirmed that teaching activities continue as normal across the province, with no immediate plans for school closures.

He urged students and parents to adhere strictly to guidelines issued to mitigate the potential effects of the heatwave, ensuring the safety of all children.
