A court has delivered its reserved verdict on Aleema Khan’s petition, dismissing her applications for exemption from personal court appearances and for permission to travel abroad.

PTI Founder Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, expressed frustration over restrictions on her travel, asking why she is being stopped from leaving the country.

Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi, Aleema Khan stated that she faces accusations of relaying the PTI founder’s messages to party workers.

The court reserved its decision on her request for permission to travel abroad.

Aleema Khan revealed that she has been named in 60 cases solely for delivering messages. She also claimed that Imran Khan did not inform them about the briefing at Adiala Jail. “We stand by our brother; no one can stop us,” she added.

However, the Rawalpindi ATC rejected her plea seeking exemption from court attendance and permission to travel abroad.

During the hearing, attended by Aleema Khan along with her lawyers Ali Bukhari and Faisal Malik, the defense argued that the Islamabad High Court had ordered the removal of her name from the Provisional National Identification List.

The defense requested a three-week exemption from court attendance and assured the court that she would appear when required. They also stated that since the trial has not yet begun, her personal presence was not necessary.

Interim bail in two cases related to protests and arson involving PTI founder’s sisters was extended until May 30.

Prosecutor Zaheer Shah responded by stating that although there is no objection to the cause, Aleema Khan has also filed a pre-arrest bail plea in the same case for which she seeks relief.

The pre-arrest bail hearing is scheduled for May 21. He added that 11 other cases are registered against her in Rawalpindi, with no bail granted in any. He emphasized that trial proceedings and bail matters are separate issues.

The prosecutor further argued that exemption from personal appearance is not allowed in pre-arrest bail cases except on medical grounds and noted that Aleema Khan plays a supplementary, not primary, role in fundraising activities.

After hearing both sides, the court reserved its judgment and subsequently dismissed Aleema Khan’s requests for exemption from attendance and travel abroad.
