SECP issues urgent advisory to companies amid rising cyber threats
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has issued a critical advisory to all companies in light of increasing cybersecurity threats, urging them to adopt global best practices to protect their data, networks, and corporate reputation.
According to the advisory, failure to implement robust cybersecurity measures may lead to operational disruptions, data breaches, and severe damage to a company’s credibility.
The SECP has outlined key measures that companies must prioritise, including:
- Strict control over system access
- Elimination of network vulnerabilities
- Proactive planning to respond to security breaches
- Awareness among employees and users regarding cybersecurity risks
The statement emphasised SECP’s commitment to safeguarding financial and information systems and called on all companies to take immediate and serious action to ensure the integrity of their networks.
