Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur was stopped by police at Gorakhpur checkpoint on Thursday while marching on foot toward Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to meet the incarcerated PTI founder. The confrontation led to a brief but heated exchange between Gandapur and law enforcement.

“You cannot stop me, I have a court order—I am the province’s chief minister,” Gandapur told the police officers blocking his path. Insisting on his right to proceed, he added, “I will go to jail; no one can stop me.”

The standoff also involved negotiations between Gandapur’s security team and the police. His security officer, Sub-Inspector Saleem Qureshi, urged authorities to allow the CM’s security protocol to pass. Eventually, Gandapur resumed his march on foot toward the prison, accompanied by several PTI leaders.

After passing the checkpoint, the PTI leaders, including the CM, boarded a public service Suzuki vehicle to continue their journey to Adiala Jail.

Prominent party figures, including Provincial Minister Sohail Afridi, Shahid Khattak, Mohsin Jatoi, Jamal Ahsan, Zulfiqar Khan Nowshera, Fatehullah Burki, and MNA Jamal Ahsan were also present at the checkpoint and later joined Gandapur en route to the jail.

In response to the political movement, security around the jail was heightened, with a large contingent of police deployed in the area.
