NSC authorizes Pakistan army to act against India at ‘time, place and manner’ of its choosing
The National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, which was held on Wednesday (today), has confirmed that the Pakistan Army has full authority to respond to Indian aggression at a time, place, and in a manner of its choosing.
The NSC was held at the Prime Minister’s Office as tensions with India continue to rise, and was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The members “strongly condemned” the attacks as blatant violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty and acts of war under international law.
The NSC noted that the Indian strikes deliberately targeted civilian areas in Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad under the false claim of attacking so-called “terrorist camps.”
Also, the meeting stated that the attacks resulted in the deaths of innocent men, women, and children and caused damage to infrastructure, including mosques.
Moreover, India also endangered commercial flights and deliberately targeted the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project, in clear violation of international conventions.
Pakistan firmly rejected India’s baseless claims and reminded the world that it had already invited international media for a transparent investigation, which India ignored.
The NSC called India’s actions cowardly and politically motivated, asserting that New Delhi’s decision to attack civilians was a reckless attempt to distract from its internal failures.
Also, they offered prayers for the innocent civilians martyred in the Indian strikes and expressed deep sorrow for the victims and their families, also wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
The NSC praised the military’s timely and effective actions and emphasized that the entire nation stands united behind its defenders.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace with dignity, the NSC warned that any further aggression will be met with full force and held India solely responsible for the consequences of its reckless behavior.
The committee also urged the international community to take notice of India’s illegal actions and hold it accountable under international law.
Pakistan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Ishaq Dar, the National Security Advisor, federal ministers Khawaja Asif, Mohsin Naqvi, Attaullah Tarar, and Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar had attended the meeting.
The chiefs of the three armed forces, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and the Director General of ISI were also present.
