Pakistan police use drone to target dacoit who allegedly killed journalist
In a first in Pakistan, the police in Sindh’s Shikarpur district conducted a drone operation in the Kacha area, resulting in the death of notorious dacoit Sheru, who was allegedly involved in the murder of senior journalist Jan Muhammad Mehr from Sukkur.
Shikarpur SSP Shahzaib Chachar told reporters that the operation involved surrounding the area and targeting the criminals with a drone.
Police sources confirm that Sheru was directly involved in Mehr’s murder and had been on the run from law enforcement for an extended period.
In the aftermath of the operation, the Shikarpur police initiated a search operation to locate additional suspects.
Jan Muhammad Mehr was shot and killed in Sukkur last year, an incident that sparked outrage in journalistic circles, leading to demands for the swift arrest of those responsible.
