Pakistan Navy tracks Indian spy aircraft amid heightened regional tensions
The Pakistan Navy detected and monitored an Indian maritime patrol aircraft last night, according to security sources. The aircraft, identified as a US-made P-8I used by the Indian Navy, was tracked during its surveillance activity near Pakistani maritime boundaries.
Sources said the Pakistan Navy remains fully prepared to respond effectively to any Indian aggression.
The P-8I aircraft is primarily used for reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering operations and has been deployed by India amid escalating tensions between the two countries.
The development comes a day after Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry briefed political leaders, reaffirming that Pakistan desires peace in the region but is fully capable of giving a befitting response if war is imposed.
Corps Commander Conference: Army prepared to respond if India imposes war
Tensions have intensified since the April 22 attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Indian-occupied Kashmir, which left 26 people dead. India blamed Pakistan for the incident, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, and ordered Pakistani nationals to leave the country immediately. In response, Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian flights.
Pakistan has called for an international investigation into the Pahalgam incident, a proposal that India has so far ignored. Countries including China, Türkiye, and Switzerland have supported Pakistan’s call for a fair inquiry.
