In response to a request from Pakistan, the United Nations Security Council has convened an emergency meeting to address India’s provocations and the threats to regional peace.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar, is set to brief the council on Indian aggression during the session.

The Pakistani envoy confirmed that the meeting was called following directives from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Iftikhar stated, “We are working in accordance with this directive, and when appeals enter the system, they influence the global order.”

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed, expressed concern over the escalating tensions in South Asia, emphasizing that the situation cannot remain confined.

He highlighted the U.S.’s significant role in security matters and the expectation that it will help de-escalate the situation.

Meanwhile, Dr. Faisal, Pakistan’s High Commissioner in the UK, stressed that the core issue lies not in Pahalgam or Pulwama, but in Jammu and Kashmir.

He noted that without a resolution aligned with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, peace in Pakistan-India relations remains unattainable.

Pakistan has alerted the international community to India’s continuous provocations, including the recent surge in military activity along the Line of Control and alleged false flag operations in Pahalgam, which threaten regional stability and increase the risk of conflict.

During the UN meeting, Pakistan plans to present evidence of India’s regional policies to world powers, asserting that a fair and lasting resolution of the Kashmir issue is essential for enduring peace in South Asia.
