Jaishankar slams European nations, dismisses EU stance on Pak-India tensions
India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, has once again criticised European nations for their perceived double standards on global issues, asserting that India seeks “partners, not preachers.”
Speaking at a recent event, Jaishankar emphasised that some European countries continue to struggle with practising at home what they advocate abroad.
“Europe has entered a certain zone of reality check,” Jaishankar remarked, highlighting the need for genuine partnerships over moral posturing. He pointed out the inconsistency in Europe’s responses to international conflicts, particularly contrasting their stance on the Russia-Ukraine war with their approach to India-Pakistan tensions.
This isn’t the first time Jaishankar has addressed such concerns. In 2022, he dismissed suggestions that India’s position on Ukraine could affect global support in its dealings with China, stating that India is fully capable of managing its complex relationship with Beijing independently. He criticised the notion that Europe’s problems are global issues, while global challenges are not Europe’s concern.
