Azad Kashmir govt initiates emergency food stockpiling amid tensions with India

In response to potential aggression from India along the Line of Control (LoC), the Azad Kashmir government has launched an emergency food stockpiling initiative.
This move aims to secure food supplies in areas that could be targeted by Indian shelling amid the escalating tensions.
Food Minister Akbar Ibrahim has instructed the Food Department to create a comprehensive plan to ensure a steady supply of food in sensitive regions near the LoC. He emphasized the importance of preparing to prevent any food shortages for citizens in case of an emergency.
According to Food Department Inspector Syed Zawar Haider, efforts are being made to increase food storage capacity to accommodate long-term needs in the event of a possible attack. “We are monitoring every area at risk of Indian aggression, and additional supplies are being dispatched to these locations,” he stated.
Senior official Abdul Hamid Kiani confirmed that there are currently adequate flour stocks in all warehouses along the LoC. However, following Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq’s directives, there are ongoing efforts to extend these stocks to last at least two months.

While public concern exists in Azad Kashmir, government actions have provided some reassurance that state institutions are fully prepared to address any potential threats from India.
