IHC judges submit response in key constitutional case
In a constitutional case concerning judges’ transfers and seniority, five judges of the Islamabad High Court have filed a written response to the Supreme Court, presented by lawyers Munir A. Malik and Rafaqat Hussain.
The response includes allegations against the federal government for misrepresenting the situation regarding judges’ transfers.
It asserts that during consultations, it was falsely claimed that not all provinces were represented in the Islamabad High Court
It was highlighted that the Chief Justice was not informed that new judges would take their positions without having taken an oath.
The judges also raised concerns about the timing of these transfers, pointing out that Justice Amir Farooq’s name was proposed for the Supreme Court immediately prior to the transfers, a fact deemed significant.
