A weather system carrying rain and strong winds is expected to enter Pakistan on May 1, providing much-needed respite from the ongoing heatwave, the Meteorological Department has forecast.

According to the Met Office, a fresh westerly wave will enter the country on Wednesday, likely causing thunderstorms, heavy winds, rain, and hail in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

From May 2 to 5, weather disturbances are expected in major cities including Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Quetta, with strong winds, dust storms, and hailstorms likely to occur. The unexpected weather could damage standing crops, fragile structures, and signboards.

Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautionary measures, while all concerned departments have been put on alert to respond to potential emergencies.
