Transporters announce protest outside Sindh CM, Governor house over road blockade
The sit-in at Khairpur Baberlo Bypass against disputed canal projects entered its 10th day, prompting goods transporters to announce a major protest outside the Chief Minister and Governor’s Houses tomorrow.
An emergency meeting of transporter associations, led by Malik Shehzad Awan, decided to stage the protest, citing massive financial losses due to the blockade.
Awan said that goods worth billions of rupees were being destroyed while the government remained indifferent to the crisis. He announced that a protest rally would depart from New Truck Stand at 3 PM tomorrow and march toward the CM and Governor’s Houses.
Highlighting the scale of the disruption, Awan revealed that nearly 40,000 freight vehicles have been stranded in Sukkur for the past 10 days, causing severe financial damage.
He added that trucks, trailers, and containers would peacefully march and stage a sit-in outside the offices of the Sindh Chief Minister and Governor.
Malik Shehzad Awan urged both the federal and Sindh governments to immediately clear the blocked routes. He reminded the authorities that transporters had previously supported the Sindh government on the canal issue and now expected swift action to resolve their plight.
