How to register for PM laptop scheme 2025

The government has revived the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme for 2025, with the aim of distributing 100,000 laptops to deserving students across Pakistan.

This new phase of the scheme has been opened to students from all academic backgrounds, with distribution based purely on merit.

Conditions

Students eligible for laptop distribution must complete biometric verification at designated NADRA e-Sahulat Centers, according to an official notification from the Directorate of Public Instructions (Colleges), Punjab.

In the program’s first phase, approximately 7,000 students from selected institutions will receive laptops in a special ceremony scheduled for April 30, 2025.

To ensure transparency, the Higher Education Department has collaborated with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for biometric thumb verification, which will be offered at these institutions starting April 24, 2025.

All verification costs will be covered by the Higher Education Department, with NADRA providing proper documentation for reimbursement.

Institutions have been instructed to ensure that students complete the verification process on time to qualify for the laptop distribution event.

Application process

  • Ensure that the person’s university, campus, department, degree level, etc. on the website.

Eligible criteria

  • Currently studying at a public sector university or a Degree Awarding Institute recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

  • Enrolled in a PhD, MS, MPhil, or an equivalent 18-year program (excluding weekend programs).

  • Enrolled in a 1.5 or 2-year master’s degree program (excluding weekend programs).

  • Pursuing a 4-year or 5-year bachelor’s degree program, whether in the morning or evening shift.

  • Secured at least 70% marks in a semester system (or a minimum 2.80 CGPA), or 60% marks in an annual system.

  • CGPA/GPA will be converted to a percentage based on the HEC-defined formula.

Updating existing record

  • Open the registration portal for Laptop scheme.

  • Click on right side where three lines are given.

  • Go to Existing applicants.

  • Choose respective university, CNIC and date of birth.
