Aleema Khan bars from meeting PTI founder, files contempt plea in IHC
Aleema Khan, sister of the PTI founder, has filed a contempt of court petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) over being repeatedly denied permission to meet her brother in Adiala Jail.
In her plea, Aleema Khan has made the Punjab Home Secretary and the Superintendent of Adiala Jail respondents, alleging that they have imposed an unlawful ban on the jail meetings despite court orders.
The petition states that the former Prime Minister is facing multiple jail trials, and the court had already taken serious notice of the restrictions imposed on meetings. It highlights that the IHC had issued clear instructions on October 26, allowing access to the PTI founder, and that a list of lawyers, family members, and friends approved for visitation had already been submitted.
Her lawyer argued that despite these directives, the jail superintendent has repeatedly obstructed scheduled meetings, in clear violation of jail rules. The petition maintains that the actions of the Punjab Home Secretary and jail authorities constitute contempt of court and urges the court to initiate proceedings against the responsible officials.
