Hungarian Foreign Minister voices concerns over terrorism from Afghanistan
The Hungarian Foreign Minister has expressed concern regarding the promotion of terrorism from Afghan territory, expressing gratitude to Pakistan for its exceptional hospitality during his visit.
While in Pakistan, the Hungarian Foreign Minister held a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
Addressing the press conference, the Hungarian Foreign Minister reiterated concerns about terrorism originating from Afghan soil and discussed issues related to illegal residents.
He stated that both countries share a unified stance on political matters and expressed a desire for a dialogue-based resolution to the Ukraine conflict.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani government for its warm hospitality and a desire to strengthen ties, considering Pakistan a reliable ally.
He expressed confidence that today’s B2B meetings will be fruitful. He mentioned that both countries are preparing to sign an agreement for mutual investment protection and are also set to establish direct air links through an aviation agreement.
Additionally, the Minister voiced support for Pakistan’s continuation in the GSP Plus program beyond 2027.
Ishaq Dar
During this event, Ishaq Dar expressed gratitude for Hungary’s support for Pakistan’s GSP Plus status and highlighted the extensive opportunities available for Hungarian investors in Pakistan.
Dar welcomed the Hungarian Foreign Minister, noted the growing cultural cooperation between Pakistan and Hungary, and emphasized the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He mentioned that the third meeting of the joint commission between Hungary and Pakistan is particularly important.
The Deputy Prime Minister also announced that a visa-free agreement for diplomatic passports has been established with Hungary, which will enable both countries to benefit from future collaborations.
Jam Kamal
In his comments, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan expressed optimism that these B2B engagements will foster meaningful partnerships and long-term collaborations between Pakistan and Hungary.
He noted that Pakistan has made significant progress in enhancing its trade and investment climate, implementing various regulatory and policy reforms to improve the ease of doing business, attract foreign investment, and build a robust infrastructure for sustainable development.
Kamal also highlighted that a national tariff policy is being developed, focusing on tariff rationalization to promote and encourage business activities in Pakistan.
