Negotiations between Pakistan and Bangladesh are scheduled to commence today in Dhaka, with Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch already in the city, marking the first advisory meeting in 13 years.

Both nations will be represented by foreign secretaries leading respective delegations.

This resumption of bilateral political consultations, which last took place in 2012, is seen as a significant step towards strengthening ties between the two countries.

Baloch was greeted by Bangladesh Director General for South Asia, Ishrat Jahan, upon her arrival.

The discussions are expected to cover a range of topics, including mutual concerns, regional dynamics, and opportunities for enhancing cooperation.

Following the talks, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is scheduled to visit Bangladesh from April 22 to 24 to further boost economic and political cooperation between the two nations.

This meeting and the upcoming visit are anticipated to foster improved relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
