Pakistan intensifies deportation campaign with over 921,000 illegal foreigners sent home
The deportation process for illegally residing foreigners and Afghan citizen cardholders in Pakistan, which began on April 1, has seen significant progress, with a total of 921,063 individuals repatriated to their home countries thus far.
On April 9 alone, immigration sources reported that more than 7,762 illegal Afghan nationals were expelled.
A total of 4,515 foreigners were deported via the Torkham border in Khyber, with 3,062 individuals opting to go to the Landikotal transit camp for their legal processing.
In Punjab, 1,322 illegal foreigners were directly transported to Torkham, along with 48 illegal residents from Azad Kashmir who were also sent back. Furthermore, 83 individuals living illegally were deported from the Jumma Khan Colony transit camp in Peshawar.
Among the deportees, 1,232 were illegal residents, while 1,830 were holders of ACC cards. As a result of these efforts, authorities in Khyber reported that 20,124 illegal foreigners have been compelled to leave Pakistan since the beginning of April.
From September 17, 2023, to March 31, a total of 70,494 Afghan families, totaling 469,159 individuals, have returned to Afghanistan.

The Government of Pakistan is committed to ensuring the respectful return of illegal foreigners and Afghan citizen cardholders while preventing any form of mistreatment during their departure. Adequate food and healthcare facilities have been provided to those returning.
Pakistani officials have reiterated that they are undertaking strict legal measures against illegally residing individuals and are working to expedite the expulsion process.
