The menace of heavy trailers on Karachi’s roads continues unabated as yet another tragic accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist near Vita Chowrangi in Korangi.

According to rescue officials, a high-speed trailer ran over a motorcyclist near Vita Chowrangi, killing him on the spot. The deceased, identified as Adnan, was a security official affiliated with a government security agency and also worked for a private company.

Eyewitnesses said that the trailer driver attempted to flee the scene but was caught by bystanders and handed over to the police.

Adnan’s body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal procedures.

This incident highlights the growing danger posed by heavy vehicles in the city. According to rescue services, this marks the 79th death caused by heavy vehicles in the past 99 days in Karachi. The total number of fatalities in traffic accidents this year has now reached 257.

Residents and civil society have repeatedly demanded stricter regulations and enforcement against reckless driving by trailer and truck operators, especially in densely populated urban areas.
