Gujranwala: Bride refuses to marry groom in dramatic wedding twist; marries cousin instead
A wedding in Alipur Chatha took a dramatic turn when a dispute between the families of the bride and groom led to the bride refusing to proceed with the marriage, resulting in the groom returning home empty-handed.
The event, which unfolded in true cinematic style, saw a grand wedding procession arrive at the hall with music and celebration. Guests showered the venue with Rs 5,000 currency notes in a festive display. However, tensions quickly escalated as a heated argument broke out between the bride and groom’s families.
Amid the chaos, the bride refused to go through with the nikah (marriage contract), leaving the groom—dressed in his wedding attire—shocked and forced to return without his bride.
In an unexpected twist, the bride was later married to her maternal cousin, who had attended the ceremony as a guest.
Despite the disruption, reports suggest that the groom had been promised a car worth Rs10 million as part of the dowry.
The incident has gone viral on social media, with many reacting to the unpredictable nature of the turn of events—proving once again that reality can often outshine fiction.
