The Sindh government has officially extended the deadline for vehicle owners to replace their old number plates with the newly introduced Ajrak-themed plates, now setting the new cutoff date as May 3, 2025, instead of the earlier April 3, 2025.

The new Ajrak-design number plates, embedded with modern security features such as RFID tracking chips, barcodes, and laser-etched serial numbers, have been made mandatory for all registered vehicles across the province.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to enhance vehicle identification, road safety, and regulatory efficiency. Officials have emphasized that strict enforcement will begin following the new deadline, and vehicles without the updated number plates will face confiscation and fines.

According to Sindh’s excise department, the province currently has nearly 7 million registered vehicles, including motorcycles and cars. The transition to the Ajrak plate system is being treated as a priority project aimed at modernizing vehicle registration and curbing misuse.

Vehicle owners are strongly encouraged to comply before the deadline to avoid penalties.
