Shawwal moon expected to be sighted on March 30, predicts PMD

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has announced that the new moon of Shawwal is anticipated to be sighted on the evening of March 30.

According to the notification issued, “the new moon will be born on the crossing conjunction point at 3:58  PST on March 29.”

The date corresponds to the 29th of Ramzan.

The notification stated that “astronomical data showed a good chance of sighting the new moon, with weather conditions expected to be partly cloudy to fair across most regions of the country.”

The PMD predicted that Eid al-Fitr is likely to be observed on March 31, as the Shawwal moon is expected to be born on March 29 at 3:58pm.

The federal government has approved a three-day public holiday for Eid ul-Fitr.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with its zonal committees, will meet on Sunday evening, March 30.
