PM directs swift execution of IT training projects
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the swift implementation of IT training projects, emphasising that Huawei Technologies will provide online training to 300,000 young Pakistanis.
He highlighted that youth play a crucial role in advancing technology and the digital revolution, and the government is fully committed to equipping them with modern skills.
A high-level review meeting was held in Lahore under the Prime Minister’s chairmanship, focusing on Pakistan’s collaboration with Huawei Technologies to train 300,000 youth in ICT (Information and Communication Technology). The meeting was attended by Huawei’s delegation and senior government officials.
China-Pakistan IT agreements
Discussions centered on equipping young people with global-standard digital skills and reviewing progress on agreements signed last year between Pakistan and Huawei Technologies in China.
PM Shehbaz Sharif stated, “Young people are at the heart of technological advancement and the digital revolution. We are providing every possible support to equip them with modern skills. Huawei’s ICT training programme will not only boost IT exports but also help youth secure employment.”
He added that the training will cover artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and other advanced technologies.
ICT training portal launch
The prime minister was briefed that an online ICT training portal for 300,000 Pakistani youth would be launched under his supervision.
He was also informed that Huawei Technologies has already trained 20,315 students under this initiative.
The programme focuses on upskilling students, trainers, and IT professionals, with master trainers trained by Huawei to mentor local youth at the grassroots level.
PM Shehbaz further directed authorities to expand the initiative to all provinces, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, ensuring nationwide access to IT training.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Atta Tarar and Shaza Fatima, Special Assistants Haroon Akhtar and Rana Mashhood, and other senior officials.
