New Zealand Captain Mitchell Santner has given an update on their fast bowler Matt Henry ahead of the Champions Trophy final against India in Dubai on Sunday (tomorrow).

“We’ll be going across the road and training after this. Matt’s going to have a bowl just to see how he is. I guess we’ll make a call after that,” Santner said in the pre-match press conference on March 8.

Henry suffered a shoulder injury during the semi-final against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, casting doubt on his availability for the crucial match.

Santner stated that the team management was monitoring the bowler’s injury.

If Henry is unable to play in the final, it would be a significant setback for Black Caps. He previously made a strong impact against India during the league stage, taking five wickets, although New Zealand lost that match by 44 runs.

Santner also reflected on the semi-final against Australia, noting that the pitch conditions had changed slightly compared to earlier in the tournament. He emphasised the need for teams to adapt their strategies and tactics in response to the evolving playing surface, underscoring the importance of flexibility in high-stakes matches.
