Salman Ali Agha appointed Pakistan’s T20 team captain
All-rounder Salman Ali Agha was appointed as the captain of Pakistan’s T20 team on Tuesday as the national team yet again sees major changes after the Champions Trophy failure, the national cricket board said.
ODI Captain Mohammad Rizwan and former skipper Babar Azam have been dropped from the shortest format of the game.
In a significant shake-up of the squad, all-rounder Shadab Khan has returned to the Pakistan team. The changes come as part of a strategy to “enhance the team’s performance” in upcoming T20 matches.
The Green Shirts faced humiliating defeat in their Group stage matches of the 50-over tournament, as fans and experts reiterated their concerns over the team selection.
Agha, the ODI vice-captain, spoke about the “intent” in modern cricket at a press conference in Lahore. Interim head coach Aqib Javed was also present.

The all-rounder has been clinical in the recent series against Australia and South Africa, however, his performance was not up to the mark in the Champions Trophy.
“It is a challenging job to lead the team,” Agha said and called for “changing the approach” as per the needs of modern-day cricket.
