Champions Trophy: Kangaroos reach semis after Lahore washout
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match between Afghanistan and Australia ended without a result due to rain, with both teams receiving one point each.
Australia secured a place in the semi-finals.
In the 10th match of the tournament, Afghanistan had set a target of 274 runs for Australia.
The crucial Group B match at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, was abandoned due to rain, allowing Australia to qualify for the semi-finals.
Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first, posting 273 runs in 50 overs before being bowled out.
In response, Australia reached 109 for 1 in 12.5 overs before the match was called off due to a wet outfield.

Both teams received one point, bringing Australia’s total to four, enough to secure a semi-final spot.
Afghanistan struggled early, losing their first wicket for just 3 runs in the opening over when Rahmanullah Gurbaz was bowled for a duck.
However, subsequent partnerships helped them recover, reaching 62 runs in 11 overs. Their second wicket fell at 70 runs in the 14th over.
Before the match, Afghanistan’s captain, Hashmatullah announced no changes to the squad, expressing confidence in their spinners and aiming for a big score.
Australian captain Steve Smith also confirmed an unchanged team, hoping for a competitive game.
