The Sindh government has announced its decision to award free ‘pink motorcycles’ to women through a lottery scheme, as the PPP-ruled province launches women-based schemes.

“To empower women, we will provide pink scooters to them,” Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said at a press conference in Karachi. “A licence is a must for women to participate in the scheme.”

He added that the lucky draw scheme for awarding the scooters would be organised in an open event.

Memon also announced that the provincial government would launch a ‘pink taxi’ service where the drivers would be women.

This comes two years after the provincial government launched ‘Pink Bus’—dedicated to women passengers.
