Chairman of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H), Afaq Ahmed, has urged motorcyclists to purchase one metre of white cloth each.

Speaking at a press conference at his residence in Defence, he stated that Karachi has 4.5 million registered motorcycles and that financial arrangements must be made to support the families of those who lose their lives in traffic accidents.

Afaq Ahmed has become increasingly active in addressing traffic issues in the city.

He highlighted that dump trucks weigh more than the Pakistan Army’s Al-Khalid tanks, emphasising the need for strict regulations.

He reiterated his demand for a ban on heavy traffic during daytime hours, urging the government to take immediate action.

To push for reforms, Afaq Ahmed announced the formation of a committee comprising lawyers and senior MQM-H officials to evaluate traffic accidents in the city.

He revealed that legal action would soon be initiated to bring the matter before the courts.

In a significant statement, Afaq Ahmed called for the deployment of Rangers across Sindh with full policing authority.

He argued that since Rangers have been stationed in Karachi for years, extending their jurisdiction across the province would further improve law and order.

Reflecting on his recent detention, Afaq Ahmed described imprisonment as a painful ordeal and expressed gratitude to political leaders who raised their voices in his support.

It is important to note that Afaq Ahmed was arrested in Karachi for delivering an inflammatory speech. According to the police, his remarks incited violence, leading to the burning of freight vehicles in the Korangi area.

A case was registered against him under charges related to rioting and arson.
