Saudi Arabia has announced significant changes for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, including a prohibition on children accompanying pilgrims, media reported.

The decision was made to enhance safety amid the substantial crowding that characterizes the annual event, as stated by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

In addition to the child ban, first-time pilgrims would be prioritised to ensure that as many Muslims as possible have the opportunity to undertake the holy journey at least once in their lifetime.

The registration process for the Hajj season has opened for Saudi Arabia citizens and residents via the Nusuk app and the official website.

New visa regulations have also been introduced, effective February 1. Individuals from 14 countries, including India, will only be eligible for single-entry visas to prevent unauthorized participation in Hajj. This measure aims to mitigate crowding at key holy sites and ensure a more organized pilgrimage experience.

Pilgrims are encouraged to stay informed and complete their registrations through official channels to avoid complications.
