Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf and New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra suffered injuries during the opening match of the tri-nation series involving Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Rauf experienced rib pain while bowling in the seventh over against New Zealand, forcing him to leave the field. His over was completed by Salman Ali Agha. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed Rauf sustained a low-grade strain and also suffers from discomfort in his abdominal muscles. Following the match, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan stated that doctors have indicated Rauf’s injury is not overly serious.

Rauf’s injury is a concern as he is also part of the Pakistan squad for the Champions Trophy scheduled for this month. This follows the earlier withdrawal of batsman Saim Ayub from the event due to injury.

In the same match, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra also suffered an injury. While attempting to catch a straight drive from Khushdil Shah in the 38th over of the Pakistan innings, the ball struck Ravindra’s face, causing bleeding. He was immediately taken off the field.

Pakistan lost the match, adding to the concerns surrounding the injuries suffered by both teams.
