Rain, snowfall sweep across the country
Various regions in the country, including Islamabad, are currently experiencing rain and snowfall. In Islamabad, light rain accompanied by strong winds was reported late last night.
Fog has once again blanketed parts of Punjab, leading to the closure of several motorways and delays in flight schedules at Lahore airport.
A spokesperson stated that various motorway sections have been shut down due to extremely low visibility caused by the thick fog.
The M3 motorway from Faizpur to Nankana Sahib, the Lahore-Sialkot M11 motorway, and the M2 motorway from Lahore to Hiran Minar are among those closed.
Meanwhile, flight operations at Allama Iqbal International Airport have also been affected by the fog.
Flights 402 from Karachi to Lahore and 724 from Dubai to Lahore have experienced delays because of the weather. Flight 523 from Lahore to Karachi was unable to depart due to the aircraft being unavailable.
In Azad Kashmir’s Leepa Valley, snowfall is ongoing, blanketing the area in a thick layer of snow.
Heavy snowfall has been recorded in locations such as Bathwar Gali and Sher Gali, with more than a foot accumulating in parts of the valley, severing road access to the capital.
Sarai Alamgir has also witnessed its first winter rain, resulting in a noticeable drop in temperatures. While the changing weather adds to the winter charm, it may also lead to travel disruptions in affected areas.
