The federal government has announced a change in leadership at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police, replacing Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Gandapur with Chaudhry Zulfiqar Hameed.

A notification from the Establishment Division confirmed the appointment of Hameed, a Grade-21 officer previously serving in the Punjab Police, as the new KP police chief.

Gandapur has been instructed to report to the Establishment Division. The reasons for the change in leadership have not yet been officially disclosed.
