Ram Charan’s “Game Changer” box office stumbles, facing controversy and tax evasion allegations

The film's underperformance is compounded by controversy

Ram Charan’s much-anticipated film, “Game Changer,” is struggling to maintain its box office momentum, raising questions about its initial reported earnings. After a strong opening day, the film’s performance has significantly declined.

In its 16th day, the film earned a mere ₹0.24 crore, with ₹0.16 crore from Telugu and ₹0.07 crore from Hindi versions. The film’s total Indian box office collection stands at ₹129.34 crore (gross collection: ₹153.92 crore) after 16 days.

While it earned ₹87.9 crore in Telugu and ₹32.57 crore in Hindi, its performance in other languages like Tamil (₹8.27 crore), Malayalam, and Kannada was significantly weaker. Globally, the film has grossed ₹184.17 crore, far below the ₹186 crore opening-day figure initially claimed by the makers.

The film’s underperformance is compounded by controversy surrounding its box office figures and tax evasion allegations.

Following criticism from Ram Gopal Varma questioning the reported numbers, the Income Tax department conducted searches on the properties of producer Dil Raju, linked to allegations of tax evasion.

These investigations have further cast a shadow on the film’s success and its future prospects as it enters its third week. The film’s continued survival in theaters now hinges primarily on its Telugu and Hindi versions.
