Although clips of Junaid Akbar’s National Assembly speeches have gone viral on social media, his name has made headlines in the last couple of days. He has reportedly succeeded to a position previously held by a close aide of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan.

His elevation has left many wondering who this man is. Below is a profile story of the PTI MNA.

Akbar, the newly nominated PTI president of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has been associated with the party for the past 20 years.

He became a member of the lower house of Parliament after contesting elections 12 years ago. Akbar is regarded as a long-standing party activist.

Hailing from the Thana area of the Malakand district, Akbar has been affiliated with the PTI since its inception. He won his first election on a PTI ticket in 2013 and has successfully secured victories in the 2018 and 2022 elections as well. Prior to joining PTI, he was not affiliated with any other political party, having launched his political career with PTI.

Moreover, Akbar is related to Lal Muhammad Khan, a former federal minister and leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

Akbar, 48, completed his early education up to matriculation in his ancestral village of Thana and later obtained an MBA from Peshawar University. He is renowned in the region as an honourable politician.
