The government increase the price of petrol and diesel for the next fortnight on Wednesday.

The price of petrol was increased by Rs3.47 to Rs256.13 per litre.

Meanwhile, the price of diesel was increased by Rs2.61 to Rs260.95 per litre.

The notification issued by the Finance Division said that the increase had been made on the advice of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority. It added that the decision was made on the basis of fluctuation in the prices of oil in the international market.

The prices will come into force on Jnuary 16 and will be applicable for the next fortnight.
