James Gunn calls five-year wait for Batman sequel ‘standard’
Head of DC Studios, James Gunn, has responded to fan concerns regarding the delay of “The Batman Part II,” which has been pushed back to 2027.
In his comments, Gunn emphasized that extended intervals between sequels are common in Hollywood, citing examples such as the seven-year gap between “Alien” and “Aliens,” the fourteen years between “The Incredibles” films, and the thirty-six years between “Top Gun” movies.
The primary reason for the delay, according to Gunn, is the absence of a completed script.
He noted that the writing process can take considerable time, followed by approximately two years for pre-production, filming, and post-production for major films of this scale.
