Federal Energy Minister Owais Leghari announced that Pakistan and Russia will initiate a trial freight train service in March 2025, marking a significant step toward strengthening economic and political ties between the two nations.

During his remarks on the evolving relationship, Minister Leghari emphasized that Pakistan’s engagement with Russia is rooted in national interests and is not influenced by external pressures.

“Our partnership with Russia is designed for Pakistan’s benefit and is not dictated by any outside forces,” he stated.

He also rejected the idea of framing Pakistan-Russia relations within the context of East-West dynamics, highlighting that Pakistan is open to collaboration with all its partners for mutual advantage.
