In meeting with COAS Munir, Azeri FM highlights Pakistan’s role in regional stability

In a meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov acknowledged Pakistan’s “pivotal role” in maintaining regional stability.

The Azeri FM, who arrived in Pakistan on Thursday, called on the army chief at the General Headquarters on Friday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations statement.

The visiting dignitary also expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s steadfast support to Azerbaijan.

The military’s media wing said that they engaged in in-depth discussions on matters of mutual interest, including regional peace and stability, during their meeting.

The COAS emphasised Pakistan’s long-standing fraternal ties with Azerbaijan and reiterated the country’s “unwavering commitment” to providing comprehensive assistance and cooperation in the spheres of defence and security.

Furthermore, the COAS praised the Azerbaijani Armed Forces for their “exemplary” professionalism and valour.

On Thursday, Pakistan and Azerbaijan expressed commitment to further strengthen bilateral strategic relations and broaden the scope of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest including trade, investment, energy, security and defence, education, climate action and regional connectivity.

This came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Azeri counterpart.

Both the ministers reviewed the progress on bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global developments.
