Rupee strengthens in interbank market

KSE-100 Index gains 41.19 points in early trade

The rupee gained ground against the dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market as it strengthened by 93 paise, 0.33%, on Friday.

The greenback closed at 282.69 at the interbank market, as against the closing of Rs283.62 the previous day, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Stock Exchange opened on a positive note as the benchmark KSE-100 Index gained 90.72 points or 0.19%, and was trading at 47,543.1 levels in the early trade. It closed at 47,493.57 levels after gaining 41.19 points.

The KSE-30 Index shed 51.76 points, or 0.31%, and was trading at 16,395.82 levels on Friday, the last trading session of the week. It closed at 16,373.87 levels after shedding 73.71 points.
