Rain emergency declared as heavy downpour lashes Islamabad, Rawalpindi
Authorities say water flow in Rawalpindi’s Nala Lai is being monitored
The authorities declared a rain emergency after heavy rains lashed parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi inundating several low-lying areas of the cities.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the twin cities recorded more than 25 millimetres of rain. Bokra recorded 24 millimetres of rain, millimetres, Shahmsabad 14 millimetres, Saidpur recorded 11 millimetres and Chaklala received two millimetres of rain.
Water and Sanitation Agency, Islamabad’s Deputy Managing Director Mohammad Saleem Ashraf said that the staff is working to clear the water from low-lying areas, while the agency officials are monitoring the water flow in the Nala Lai.
