Twenty-eight employees of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) were arrested in connection with a fake degree case, officials said on Monday.
The arrests were made by the Anti-Corruption Circle of the FIA after the court cancelled their pre-arrest bail. The employees, posted in various positions ranging from grade five to fourteen, were found to have submitted fake degrees and certificates.
FIA officials said the accused caused a loss of crores of rupees to the national treasury by using fraudulent educational documents. Investigations have also been launched into the recruitment of the accused and the verification of their educational certificates.
