Punjab on high alert after militant attacks on KP police stations

Security has been heightened across Punjab following militant attacks on police stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

At least two police personnel and six civilians were injured in attacks on police installations, officials said.

Mattani and Badaber police stations in Peshawar, as well as police posts in the Kingar area of Bannu, Kashu Bridge, and the Takiya post in Khyber District came under attacks launched by militants.

Police said the assailants used hand-grenades and other weapons during the attacks.

However, timely and effective countermeasures forced the attackers to retreat, preventing casualties or damage, sources said.

Inspector General of KP Police Zulfiqar Hameed condemned the attacks, stating that terrorists were attempting to spread fear by targeting civilians.

He said security agencies were responding with full force and vowed that operations would continue to eliminate Fitna Al Khawarij, ensuring law and order is maintained at all costs.
