An under-custody suspect was killed during an alleged encounter between his accomplices and police on Sunday, authorities said.
The police stated that the suspect, identified as Zain, was being taken to the scene for the recovery of firearms when his alleged accomplices opened fire on the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) team.
According to the police, during the shootout, the suspect suffered bullet injuries and later died.
The attackers reportedly managed to escape under the cover of darkness, the police said.
The body of the suspect was moved to the morgue for a post-mortem, while an investigation into the incident has been launched.
The police maintained that Zain was wanted in many cases of serious crimes, including theft, robbery, and other offences.
