A 26-year-old man sustained serious burn injuries after he allegedly set himself on fire over a failed romance in Lahore on Saturday.

Sources identified the victim as Mehboob, a resident of the Shahdara area of Lahore.

Police said Mehboob was reportedly in love with a woman named Saba, who ended the relationship and began seeing someone else.

Distraught over the breakup, he doused himself in petrol and ignited the flames.

He was immediately taken to Mayo Hospital in critical condition, with approximately 80% of his body burned. Police officials confirmed that his condition remains extremely serious.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and further details are expected as the probe continues.
