Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has reiterated her commitment to provide relief to the people on the occasion of Ramadan, as authorities in Lahore announced revised prices for essential food items.
In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner Lahore issued a notification setting new prices, reducing the cost of several pulses and other staples.
The price of dal mash has been cut by Rs 50 per kg, while dal masoor has been reduced by Rs 25 per kg. Dal chana special has been reduced by Rs 15 per kg, and fine quality by Rs 10 per kg.
Prices of black chana, besan and dal masoor have also been reduced by Rs 10 per kg, while white chana will see a reduction of Rs 15 per kg.
The prices of dal moong, dal mash dhali and rice have been kept stable. Bread will be priced at Rs 14, milk at Rs 170 per litre, while meat prices will remain unchanged.
Price control magistrates have been instructed to strictly implement the new rates in markets. Authorities said action would be taken against those selling items at higher prices, and shopkeepers have been directed to display the official rate list prominently.
Providing maximum relief to the people during Ramadan is the top priority, the Deputy Commissioner said, adding that inflation would be controlled with the cooperation of the business community.
