A man who had come from Haroonabad to Lahore to visit his daughter was kidnapped and later murdered, with his body recovered from Kasur, police said on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Amanat Ali, was abducted from the Green Town area after visiting his daughter’s home.
According to police, Amanat Ali left his daughter’s house after dinner on February 6 but did not return. When contact could not be established, his daughter lodged a kidnapping case at Green Town police station the same day.
Investigators said the abducted man’s body was later found in Kasur. However, due to a lack of identification at the time, local police carried out burial procedures.
Authorities said the body could not be handed over to the family, as it had already been buried before relatives were able to confirm his identity.
Police said efforts are underway to complete legal formalities and facilitate the handover of remains to the family.
An investigation has been launched to trace the suspects involved in the abduction and killing. Officials said evidence was being collected from multiple locations and suspects would be arrested soon.
The incident has raised concerns over public safety, particularly in cases involving inter-district crime and delayed identification of victims.
