The funeral prayers for the victims of the suicide attack in Islamabad were offered at Imam Bargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra and Imam Bargah Jamia Sadiq (G-9) on Saturday.
The funeral prayers of 11 victims were offered at Khadijat-ul-Kubra mosque, while prayers for three victims were held at Imam Bargah Jamia Sadiq.
A large number of federal ministers, senior religious scholars from various sects, political leaders, and citizens attended the prayers.
In total, funeral prayers for 43 martyrs were offered in absentia.
As the bodies were brought for the funeral prayers, the atmosphere turned sombre, with mourners visibly emotional, sobbing and expressing grief.
At Khadijat-ul-Kubra mosque, the funeral prayer was led by Allama Hussain Muqaddasi, head of Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafariya.
Strict security measures were in place, with police and law enforcement agencies fully alert.
Meanwhile, at Imam Bargah Jamia Sadiq in G-9, the prayer was led by Agha Sheikh Muhammad Shifa Najafi.
Political leaders, Islamabad’s Inspector General of Police, religious figures, and large numbers of citizens attended the prayers.
Strict security arrangements were made on the occasion.
Participants strongly condemned the attack, prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks, and sought patience for the bereaved families.
They also demanded that those responsible for the terrorist act be brought to justice as soon as possible.
