An open manhole took another life on Monday after a three-year-old child fell into a manhole and lost his life in the limits of Muzaffarabad.

People passing by pulled the child out of a manhole several feet deep and shifted the body to the hospital, but the child did not survive.

Residents of the area said that the child fell into an uncovered manhole while playing.

According to rescue officials, the child was identified as Ali. After the incident, the local police reached the spot and started investigating the incident.

Residents expressed concern over uncovered manholes, saying they pose a danger, particularly to children.

Earlier on Wednesday, a woman and her daughter fell into a manhole near the site of the under-construction Data Darbar expansion project near Bhati Gate, in Lahore.

Their bodies were recovered on Thursday after a prolonged rescue operation.
