Child killed, another injured in Lahore shooting accident

A gun went off while children were playing with a pistol in a house in Lahore’s Baghbanpura area on Friday, killing one child and injuring another.

According to the police, the incident took place in Ahmed Town, where three young brothers were present at the house.

Fifteen-year-old Umar, fourteen-year-old Waris and nine-year-old Muhammad Azan picked up a pistol in the house to play with.

During the game, fourteen-year-old Waris accidentally fired, hitting his two brothers, Umar and Azan.

Fifteen-year-old Umar was immediately taken to Shalimar Hospital for medical attention.

He was taken to General Hospital as his condition was critical, but he could not survive.

Nine-year-old Muhammad Azan was seriously injured in the shooting incident and is undergoing treatment.

Police say that a case has been registered after the incident, and fourteen-year-old Waris has been taken into custody and handed over for investigation.

According to police officials, the three children who were killed and injured and the accused are brothers, while a full investigation into the incident is underway to determine who owned the pistol in the house and how the children had access to it.

Police have instructed citizens to keep weapons in safe places at home to avoid such tragic accidents.
