The Lahore police have arrested six people and recovered 17,000 kites and 110 kite reels during separate operations, sources said on Thursday.
According to a spokesperson for Lahore Police, a police team conducted a wide-ranging operation, arresting three suspects and seizing 11,500 kites from their possession.
In a separate action, the Islampura police arrested three suspects and recovered 5,700 kites along with 110 reels.
Police said the suspects were attempting to supply kites and banned kite strings to the city under the guise of transporting household goods.
Vehicles being used by the suspects were also taken into custody, and cases have been registered against them.
Police officials stated that the recovered items are worth millions of rupees, adding that operations against the sale and distribution of kites and prohibited materials will continue across the city.
